At Mushy, your health and safety are our top priority. We understand the importance of clear and accurate allergen information, especially for those with allergies or intolerances. This page is designed to provide you with the information you need to make safe and informed choices when enjoying our products.
We follow strict procedures and legal requirements to minimize the risks of cross-contamination and to ensure our labeling is always accurate and up-to-date.
What is an Allergen?
An allergen is a substance in food that can cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. According to the EU regulation (No 1169/2011), there are 14 allergens that must always be declared on the packaging if they are included as an ingredient.
These are:
- Cereals containing gluten (wheat, rye, barley, oats)
- Crustaceans
- Eggs
- Fish
- Peanuts
- Soybeans
- Milk and dairy products (including lactose)
- Tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts, pistachios, macadamia nuts)
- Celery
- Mustard
- Sesame seeds
- Sulphur dioxide and sulphites (at concentrations above 10 mg/kg)
- Lupin
- Molluscs
Allergens in Our Products
Allergen information for each specific Mushy product is always clearly stated in the ingredient list on the packaging. Allergens are highlighted, for example by bold lettering, italics, or underlining, to make them easy to identify.
We recommend that you always read the ingredient list carefully before consumption, even if you have purchased the product before, as recipes and ingredients may change.
Production and Risk of Cross-Contamination
We have comprehensive procedures in place to prevent cross-contamination of allergens during our production. This includes the separation of ingredients, thorough cleaning of equipment between different production batches, and staff training.
Despite our strict measures, in some cases we cannot completely eliminate the risk of traces of an allergen. If there is an unavoidable risk of cross-contamination, we label the product with the text “May contain traces of…” followed by the specific allergen. This labeling is only used after a careful risk assessment and serves as a precautionary measure to protect our most sensitive consumers.
